Niger State: "Dodan Barracks Is Dead"--NDLEA

The Niger state command of the National Drug Law Enforcement  Agency (NDLEA) has conducted a raid on the drug trafficking hub famously called ‘Dodan barracks’ arresting four suspects.

The crime hub located in the Kpagungu suburb of Minna the Niger state capital had become a thorn in the flesh of the residents who testified that bags of marijuana/cannabis/Indian hemp were readily available in the enclave creating an epidemic of drug addiction among the youths.

Hitherto, there were increasing fears of compromise within the ranks of the NDLEA as residents had complained to the agency for several weeks but to no avail. Some members of the community alleged that the then prevarication by the NDLEA was due to the fact that even personnel of security outfits were regular visitors of the hub.

Criminals who patronized the hub have been linked to crimes such as robbery, rape and murder. In a press conference on Thursday, the NDLEA assured the residents of Kpagungu and Minna as a whole that “Dodan barracks is dead”. The drug agency made no comments on whether or not illicit drugs were seized in the raid.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is the Nigerian federal government agency tasked with fighting drug related crimes in the country. It was founded in 1990 and is currently head quartered in Lagos; the countries economic capital.
