The couple in sweet times
A woman who stabbed her husband to death in 2017 has been sentenced to death by a High court in Abuja.

Maryam Sanda murdered her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, on 19th November 2017 in their home after a period of bitterness between the couple.

The High Court judge, Justice Yusuf Halilu, rule that the defendant and her counsel were not able to exonerate her from the charges hence the verdict. She was found guilty of culpable homicide and sentenced to death by hanging. The judge ordered Maryam remanded at the Suleja prison pending the expiration of her appeal window.

Rounding up the sentencing, the judge said, "It has been said that thou shall not kill. Whoever kills in cold blood shall die in cold blood. Maryam Sanda should reap what she has sown, it is blood for blood".

According to tales after the incident in November 2017, Maryam alerted her husband in advance that she was going to kill him after attacking him physically a number of times.

She was said to be reacting to hints she received informing her of plans by her husband to take another wife as their marriage was turning sour. It has not been revealed when the execution of the mother of two is likely to take place.

Bilyaminu Bello was the son of a former PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) national president, Haliru Bello.
