Minna: Ritual Killing Is Bedeviling Maitumbi

The community of Maitumbi in Minna, the Niger state capital, have made a call to the Police command of Niger state pleading for urgent assistance with regards the growing security challenges in the area.

A bag containing severed human parts was found at the Maitumbi round about this morning. The identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained.

Barely three months ago (14th September), a video showing the culprit of a ritual killing in the area surfaced on social media. The culprit whose name was not confirmed at the time of writing this report had killed and beheaded a commercial motorcyclist and buried his remains in a shallow grave inside an uncompleted building on 13th September.

Speaking to reporters on 14th December, the Maitumbi community also raised concern over the rampant smoking of marijuana in the area.

Niger state is one of the 12 Nigerian states that adopted the Shari’ah penal code in the year 2000 (4th May 2000) but the rate of drug addiction has been on the increase since 2007.

  1. This is so unacceptable and te authorities have got to do something about it. This also sheds light on the stinky issue of the (get rich through any means) trend that is bedevilling our society today. Issues like this are what I believe the National orientation agency is supposed to tackle but they're not living up to expectations seriously. We've got to act.

    1. I believe the government should also do something about the free practice of witchcraft in our society. These days, even radio stations advertise for spiritualists, it's unfortunate.
