Kano: 200 Cows Recovered From ‘Bandits’, 100 Arrested

Captured bandits (not the actual incident)

One hundred bandits have been apprehended in Kano state. They  are alleged to have been behind several acts of banditry including kidnappings in the state. The state commissioner of police, Abu Ahmad Sani, disclosed that among items seized from the criminals include 200 cows, N5 million, two AK 47 riffles and soldiers uniforms.

It is not possible to know for a cert if every one of those arrested are actually guilty of the crimes alleged. In Nigeria, once individuals have been paraded as criminals by the police, it is almost impossible to change the narrative concerning their legal status.

The coming of the APC governments at state and federal levels in Nigeria has brought about a drastic reduction in Boko Haram activities but a concomitant astronomical rise in banditry, kidnapping and massacres by suspected herdsmen.
