Ilhan Omar Just Made a Life Threatening Mistake

Somali migrant, Ilhan Omar, rose to
Ilhan Omar
fame in 2016 when she defeated Republican, Abdimalik Askar, to win a seat in Parliament making her the first Muslim woman and only the second Muslim to win a seat in Parliament after Keith Ellison.

That fame swelled in 2019 when she became one of the first two Muslim women win seats in the US congress, the other woman being Rashida Tlaib.

Unlike Rashida, Ilhan never fails to show her pride in Islam and the Muslim community even though it has brought about diatribes from Islamophobes including the President, Donald Trump. However, with the most recent development, Ilhan could be on the verge of losing the support and defense she has enjoyed from colleagues, admirers and ultimately; Muslims.

On 20th April, Ilhan posted on tweeter account her declaration for the legalization of Cannabis (aka marijuana or Indian hemp).

How exactly could this threaten her life?

Death threats against Ilhan Omar have greatly increased since Donald Trump posted a video on tweeter which implied that Ilhan did not think 9/11 was or is a big deal. The Trump administration has not shown any significant concern for the safety of Ilhan’s life.

From recent statements of Trump, it is obvious the administration will throw a party at the news of Ilhan’s death. With this declaration of Ilhan, she might have just made it easier for their dream to come true.

History has it that a number of people (especially Americans) who fell out with the American government ended up dead.

It is also observed that these people who ended up dead were killed by members of their own communities. Popular mentions are: El Hajj Abdul Malik El Shabbaz (Malcolm X), Tupac Shakur, Michael Jackson and King Faisal of Saudi Arabia.

Theories have it that these people were actually killed by the American government but, the government decided to use members of the victims’ communities in order to wash themselves clean.

As it stands, Ilhan could be assassinated and the act would be blamed on some ‘extremist jihadi group’ that feels she has dishonoured Islam by declaring support for something that is considered a sin in her religion.

Cannabis has intoxicating properties and is placed in the same category as alcohol (under Sharia Law).

Some Muslim scholars even consider it worse which is the reason why countries like Iran and Saudi Arabia give the death penalty for the crime of being in possession of it.
